Zelensky gave me a way to restore dialogue with Russia

The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that the first step on the part of Russia that is necessary to restore dialogue between the two countries. He said this on the YouTube channel “ze! President.”

According to him, the return of arrested Ukrainian sailors will be a “normal step to return to dialogue and cessation of hostilities”. At the same time the head of state noted the complexity of the process of exchange of prisoners because of a discrepancy between the lists of the parties.

“Our list of “all” that are on the temporarily occupied territories, not identical to the list of those who control these territories”, — said the President.

Zelensky previously, the team promised to make the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to negotiate. “We show your steps — bred troops in Stanitsa Luganskaya, I want to build a bridge, resumed Minsk process. All their actions, as well as during the speeches, the President says he is ready to negotiate,” called the steps of Kiev, first assistant to the President Sergey Shafir.

July 17, Kiev and the Donbass agreed in the shortest possible time to prepare for the exchange of prisoners. The exchange will be made according to the formula “69 to 208”, said the representatives of Kiev. Thus, according to the self-proclaimed Republic, Ukraine holds 101 people, which prompts Donetsk and in the territory of DNR retained 50 wanted by the Kiev Ukrainian military.

Currently in Russia are under investigation 24 Ukrainian servicemen (22 seafarers and two security officers), who were detained along with three ships in the incident in the Kerch Strait in November 2018. They are accused of illegal crossing of the Russian border in an organized group. Kiev considers its citizens and prisoners of war needs to return to Ukraine, a similar verdict in may issued a UN international Tribunal on law of the sea. Moscow believes that the issue is outside the jurisdiction of this court, and insists that the fate of the sailors must decide the investigation and trial in Russia.
