The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky rebuked the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy in inaction because of the refusal to convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament. About this he wrote in his Facebook.
Zelensky said that the authority of the current convocation of the Parliament shall cease only on the day of the first session of the new convocation. “And You are satisfied with your nearly two-month vacation until the start of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a new convocation. You don’t just withdrew from work for the benefit of Ukraine and Ukrainians, and exhibit a criminal inaction. The shame, gentlemen,” — he stressed.
The Ukrainian leader urged the speaker of Parliament to convene the Parliament session on July 19 to review anti-corruption bills.
17 Jul Zelensky Parubiy sent a petition to call emergency meeting on Thursday, July 18, to consider the President made amendments to the laws relating to the work of the Supreme court anti-corruption, confiscation of illicit assets of officials and penalties for violation of the procedure of import of transport from abroad. The speaker refused to do, stating that the law does not provide for the possibility of convening an urgent meeting. Instead, he suggested Zelensky to convene Parliament for an extraordinary session.
