The thesis about the usefulness of the only Russian aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov” for operations in Syria and other countries looks at least controversial, writes the “Star”.
“A crucial role in combat operations of Russian troops in Syria played a not aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov” that were there a very short time in order to actually research campaign, and land forces of the armed forces [the Armed forces] of the Russian Federation, including aircraft from the base VKS [aerospace forces] Hamim,” notes the weekly.
It is also noted that “from the point of view of defense of its own territory on the main strategic directions of large aircraft carriers for Russia is clearly excessive and there is no need to build them”.
In July, the expert naval Institute USA Richard moss said that Russia, instead of the repair of “Admiral Kuznetsov” should engage in the construction of nuclear submarines of project 885 “Ash” or small missile boats (IRC).
In October 2018 at the 82nd ship-repair factory (SRZ) in the village of Roslyakovo (Murmansk oblast), where they repaired the aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov”, sank floating dock PD-50. While on the dock fell two tower cranes, one of which broke the deck of an aircraft carrier, triggering the emergence of a hole measuring four by five meters. The ship after the incident, was towed on the 35th of the FSA.
In March of that year, “Admiral Kuznetsov” headed compiled by The National Interest the rating of the worst carriers in the world’s history has ever launched. Us magazine notes that inherent in 1983 in the USSR aircraft carrier commissioned only in 1995, in Russia. After the accident, in 1996 the ship prior to 1998 was under repair. After that, “Admiral Kuznetsov”, according to The National Interest, “visited the Mediterranean sea, usually with great fanfare,” and in November of 2016 took part in its first combat operation (in Syria), losing two aircraft: the MiG-29K and su-33.
