Due to the termination of flights of the Boeing-737 max, the company’s losses in the second quarter of this year amounted to almost 4.9 billion dollars after taxes. The final amount called despite the fact that the report for the quarter will be published next week, says The Seattle Times.
This will lead to the largest in the history of the company’s quarterly net loss to $ 3.6 billion. Prior to the publication of the final data S&P Capital IQ had forecast a profit in the second quarter at 1.3 billion dollars.
The sum includes fines and other additional costs associated with the 737 max. While it does not include the amount of claims from relatives of victims of air crashes, which is estimated at three billion dollars.
In 2009, the company lost $ 1.6 billion amid the cancellation of three 787 Dreamliners after tests in 2016 was deducted two more such aircraft, then the loss was estimated at $ 234 million.
Over the past six months there have been recorded two plane crashes involving Boeing 737 MAX, they killed 346 people. After that, most of the world, including Russia, have suspended the operation of the aircraft. By the end of June 400 civil aviation pilots filed a class action lawsuit against Boeing for damages. It is assumed that the aircraft will once again use not before 2020.
