The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia politicizes the issue of the Anglo-American school (AAS) in Moscow. This was reported RIA Novosti the representative of the state Department.
According to him, the Agency regretted that the foreign Ministry decided to take measures against “non-profit educational institution that serves not only the diplomatic corps of Moscow and the international business community, but also many Russian families and their children.” The state Department also hoped that the problem will be solved before the start of the new school year and children will be able to continue their education.
The diplomat added that the U.S. does not consider the visa problem teachers the only question in bilateral relations. “We are only one of many stakeholders, he said.
Earlier, the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Washington unleashed the visa war against Russia. Before that the foreign Ministry assured that he had repeatedly asked the us side to sit down at the negotiating table and to align the status of the school and visa teachers.
It was stated that the school is in a separate building and turned into a commercial structure. While the teaching staff is for some reason still sent to Moscow through diplomatic documents.
16 July it became known that 30 teachers of the Anglo-American school in Moscow — about one-fifth of the entire teaching staff has been denied a Russian visa. It was noted that the school work and the Russians, but an important part of learning — work with native speakers. Just AAS about 1.2 thousands of students from different countries, many of them children of diplomats and foreign businessmen. The school was established in 1949 by the governments of USA, UK and Canada.
