The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that there will be a third time to ask the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy to convene an extraordinary session of Parliament. About it reports “Ukrainian truth”.
According to the President, he sees no point in further interaction with Paruby. Zelensky said that he would discuss amendments to the electoral code and to lower the entry barrier for parties in Parliament from five to three per cent with a different composition of the Parliament.
Zelensky tried twice to organize an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada for consideration of anti-corruption laws, but Parubiy denied him due to the fact that the parliamentary session ended on 12 July, and a new calling not provided by law. The speaker invited the President of Ukraine to convene an extraordinary session of the Parliament in accordance with the regulations.
On the eve of 18 July the President of Ukraine called the reluctance of the Parliament to meet in extraordinary session to shame. He accused the deputies in the criminal inactivity due to the fact that they had a “two-month vacation prior to the first meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a new convocation”.
Extraordinary elections to the Ukrainian Parliament will be held on Sunday, July 21.
