On the Icelandic shore of the snæfellsnes Peninsula threw 50 pilot whales, also known as the pilot whale. This writes the magazine Iceland Review.

July 18, a group of American tourists who went on a helicopter tour spotted on the coast of the abnormal number of dead carcasses. Some dolphins were visible wounds.

One of the participants of the tour, Carlson, Greta (Greta Carlson), filmed the incident on video and reported the incident to the authorities of the town of Stykkishólmur. She claims that she hoped thus to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Marine biologist Edda Elizabeth Magnusdottir (Edda Elísabet Magnúsdóttir) noted that a flock of dolphins could jump out on shore for a number of reasons. According to one version, the animals strayed off course due to strong currents in the area.

Pilot whale (or black dolphins) reach nearly nine metres in length and weigh an average of 800 kilograms. Different species of this genus are found in tropical seas and in cool latitudes.

In 2017, it was reported that in New Zealand ashore jumped about 500 grind. In the rescue of animals was attended by hundreds of volunteers.
