The largest banks of Russia in the first half of 2019 prevented the theft from the accounts of its customers, amounting to approximately 24 billion rubles, wrote “Izvestia”, citing data from credit institutions.
The publication interviewed five banks that are among the largest in the country: Sberbank, VTB, Alfa-Bank “Post Bank” and credit Bank of Moscow.
Representatives of credit organizations have noted that the activity of cyber criminals is growing, even though adopted last year the law on protection from fraud. According to the document, credit institutions are required to take additional measures to protect the personal data of customers and their accounts.
According to Sberbank, the employees of credit institutions can prevent about 3-4 percent of the unauthorized debiting of customer accounts.
As told by the interviewed experts in the field of information security, the main risk is associated not with technical aspects but with leaks of personal data that hackers use.
