District court of Kamensk-Ural’skiy Monday, July 22, was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime penal colony the former head of the city is Mikhail Astakhov, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor of Sverdlovsk region.

The man was convicted of receiving a large bribe from a representative of one of local construction companies for “help”. As noted in Prosecutor’s office, the assistance was “timely and smooth” the acceptance of construction works undertaken in the framework of two contracts with the municipality. It was, in particular, the work on the construction of the kindergarten and two residential buildings on the territory of Kamensk-Uralsky.

The investigation established that the students received from builders, funds and property, including the Toyota Venza, approximately 6 million rubles. While work on municipal contracts was only partially implemented — despite the fact that the contractor received payment in full.

In addition to the prison term, Astakhov sentenced to a fine in the amount of 12 million rubles (twice the amount of the bribe). In addition, he was deprived of all state awards, said RIA Novosti.

Mikhail Astakhov was the head of administration of Kamensk-Ural in period from 2008 to 2016. He was awarded the medal of the order “For merits before Fatherland” II degree, also holds the title of “honoured Metallurgist of Russian Federation”.
