The speaker of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic Magomed Daudov on his page on Instagram was criticized historian Zurab Hajiyev, who said that the Chechen watchtower near the village of Ansalta built on the territory of Dagestan.
According to Daudova, the purpose of such statements is to attempt to incite ethnic hatred between the peoples of the North Caucasus. Thus Gadzhiev wants to strengthen the status of “historian of the Caucasus”, the politician believes. “You want to challenge the identity of pastures, towers or keys from them, appoint a time and place, will listen carefully to your arguments and present your own. I assure you, everything will fall into place. To visit? Welcome! Provocation? Tough to stop in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation”, — said the head of the Chechen Parliament.
Also Daudov called on residents of the Republic not to spread unverified information about the ownership of historical monuments.
July 18, Zurab Hajiyev has published a photo of the tower, built in medieval style, on his page in Facebook. In publishing historian called the building “tower building, erected by neighbors on the grounds of Dagestan”. Hajiyev’s words caused a public outcry in Chechnya. After that, the historian has published satellite images, which show that the tower is located on the territory of Dagestan.
The border issue was the cause of the complications of relations between the two republics after the incident with the demolition of the sign that says “the Chechen Republic. Shelkovskaya R-n”, which occurred on June 10. According to residents of Dagestan, a new pointer came on the town of Kizlyar. The Chairman of the regional geographical society Zurab Hajiyev said that the side of the road where the sign was established, refers to the Chechen Republic, just before there was not appropriate signage. 11 June the head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev, commenting on the incident, said that some residents found the actions of the Chechen attack on territorial interests. “This is not and will not” — he added.
Later, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov appealed to the Dagestani people not to succumb to provocations. He assured that he is closely monitoring publications in the network and advised users not to post offensive comments. The politician said that he would defend the territory of the region and its people, “no matter what the cost.” Kadyrov also thanked Vladimir Vasiliev for his approach to the situation and recommended the Dagestanis to listen to it.
