The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky expressed hope for a dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. About it reports DW.
“I think that we will find understanding, because I thought it was in the course of this call,” — said the head of Ukraine.
Previously, the team Zelensky said that the Ukrainian leader is ready to sit for negotiations with the Russian colleague. According to the assistant to the President Sergey Sefira, Kiev will achieve negotiations, but Putin does not comply with international solutions, showing that he “owes nothing”. At the same time, the Deputy President noted that the Russian leader also wants to “get out of this situation with your head” and thinks about their country.
July 11, at the initiative of Kyiv Putin and Zelensky had a phone conversation. They discussed settlement of the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine and the return of detainees held by both sides, as well as the continuation of contacts in the “Normandy format”.
Later, the Ukrainian leader said that he had called his Russian counterpart against the allies. “I decided to call Putin, because this is primarily a question of Ukraine, the question of our citizens. So we should thank our Western partners, to thank everyone for the support, but needs to have an opinion,” said Zelensky.
