In the Parliament of the ninth convocation of the number of women deputies will be the highest in the history of Ukraine. About it writes the edition “Ukrainian truth”.
Only the new Parliament will meet 87 women this is 20% of the actual number of elected deputies. For comparison, among the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, whose authority expires in a few months, there were only 53 women, or 12 percent of the total number of deputies. The majority of women members — 61 — entered Parliament on party lists. Another 26 were able to be elected in majority districts.
Most women in the Parliament held for presidential party “servant of the people” — 53 people. However, the most gender-equal was of fraction of party of ex-President Petro Poroshenko “European solidarity” (could be held in the Parliament 24 MP) and musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s “the Voice” (20 deputies). 37 percent and 47 percent of deputies from the two parties, respectively, were women. This will allow parties to qualify for additional funding in accordance with the norm of “gender quotas”.
Earlier it became known that three quarters of the deputies of the new convocation of the Verkhovna Rada has never been elected to Parliament. A big part of the beginners held in Parliament, the party of President Vladimir Zelensky “servant of the people” — in the list of the party or among its candidates were not former or current MPs.
Elections to the Ukrainian Parliament took place on 21 July. The total turnout amounted to 49.84 per cent voters. At the end of processing 90 percent of the ballots, the party Zelensky “servant of the people” can form a single-party majority, receiving 253 of the mandate of the 450. In addition to the ruling party in Parliament are also party of Viktor Medvedchuk “the Opposition platform For life”, the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko “European solidarity”, the Deputy of Yulia Tymoshenko’s “Fatherland” and leader of the musical group “Okean Elzy” Svyatoslav Vakarchuk “the Voice.”
