The Russian foreign Ministry told about his own version of the creation of the organization for security in the Persian Gulf. This was reported on the website of the Ministry.
According to the Russian concept, the organization in addition to the Gulf countries would include Russia, USA, China, India, the EU and other stakeholders. “Perspective strategic objective ( … ) is the creation of the Gulf region integrated mechanism of collective security and cooperation with the involvement on an equal basis by all States in the region”, — stated in the message.
Earlier Reuters with the reference to EU diplomats reported that France, the Netherlands and Italy support the proposal of great Britain to establish a naval coalition to ensure the safety of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran announced the capture of the British tanker Stena Impero in the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of 19 July. On Board there are 23 persons, including three citizens of Russia. According to media reports, the military stopped the ship for violation of several rules. The ship allegedly went off the transponder passed through the Strait in the area used as an exit, not an entrance, and ignored the warning.
