Representatives of the ruling Polish party “Law and justice” (PiS) expressed support for the newspaper Gazeta Polska, which released stickers with the words “Strefa wolna od LGBT” (area without LGBT). About it reports Reuters.
“We are not going to put pressure on the freedom of the press and media to tell them what to write and what notes to produce”, — said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin. Thus he commented on the scandal around the stickers, released by a Pro-government publication. In addition to the inscriptions, depicts a crossed-out rainbow flag.
With harsh criticism of the stickers were made by many human rights groups and opposition politicians. “We wanted to prove that there is censorship — and we proved it, — said Reuters editor in chief of Gazeta Polska, — what is Happening confirms what LGBT is a totalitarian ideology.”
Poland is famous rejection of homosexual: it is the last place for tolerance of LGBT people among all countries of the European Union. On 20 July in the Polish city of Bialystok, unknown assailants attacked a gay pride parade, were arrested more than 30 people. The authorities have condemned the violence.
The population of Poland is deeply religious: according to a 2011 survey, more than 86 per cent of the population profess Catholicism.
