Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the Governor of the Irkutsk region Sergey Levchenko for the fact that he immediately took under personal control the situation with the flooding in the region. His words “Interfax” on Wednesday, July 24.
“The first persons of regions should not shy away from personal responsibility for the solution of such problems”, — said the Russian leader. Levchenko should personally lead the elimination of flooding in the region, Putin said.
The President also asked the Vice-Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, who heads the regional Commission on liquidation of consequences of flood. He said that until the 23rd of July it was engaged the Deputy Governor and the Chairman of the government of the Irkutsk region Ruslan Bolotov. Putin called the wrong and “weird” is the fact that legally the Commission was headed by the Chairman of the regional government.
At the meeting with the President Mutko said that the flooded districts of the Irkutsk region will be fully recovered by early August. In his words, by 1 August in the affected Nizhneudinsk and Tulun is restored full activity. He also added that the compensation received more than 40 thousand podtoplentsam.
Due to heavy floods in the Irkutsk region in the end of June was 10.8 flooded thousands of homes. 25 people were killed. Another 11 were missing. Russian President Vladimir Putin attracted to liquidation of consequences of emergency situations of the army and instructed to allocate means from the Federal budget for repair of damaged and construction of new housing.
The flood was caused by rain and rising river level. Dumped almost 11 million homes in 107 settlements, a third of the buildings can not be restored. In six districts of the Irkutsk region was introduced emergency mode. Damage from the floods estimated at 29 billion rubles.
