Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei urged the EU to abandon didactic role in the relations with the Republic. His words convey “”.

“In our view, the most important thing is not to act as a mentor, teacher, some, who supposedly know better what should happen in Belarus, and to establish an open and Frank dialogue on all sensitive issues,” he said.

According to Makei, at the center of interaction between Belarus and the EU is not only the situation of civil and political rights in the country, but also socio-economic. “According to some socio-economic achievements of Belarus is far ahead even of some EU member States”, — said the Minister.

He stressed that the bilateral relations now have a situation in which all parties focus on constructive, respectful dialogue.

Earlier the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country is ready to expand dialogue with the European Union. The Belarusian leader urged the EU to strengthen bilateral relations without waiting for “any event: whether parliamentary, or presidential elections.” “I think our relationship is more important than any political campaigns you or us,” he said.

“Today there are no obstacles in order to strengthen the dialogue not only on economic, but also political issues. Belarus is ready”, — said Lukashenko.
