Putin canceled some sanctions against Turkey

Russian President Vladimir Putin abolished the special economic measures against Turkey. The corresponding decree published on the official portal of legal information.

In particular, we are talking about a partial renewal of the agreement between the two countries on terms of mutual trips of citizens of Russia and citizens of the Turkish Republic dated 12 may 2010. The Ministry of foreign Affairs was instructed to inform the Turkish colleagues.

Sanctions against Turkey was introduced in December of 2015 they were a response to the attack of the Turkish military of the Russian bomber su-24 in November of that year in the skies over Syria. As a result, prohibited the importation of some agricultural products, banned the sale of tours to Turkey, and cancelled Charter flights.

In June 2016, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has written to the Russian leader a letter of apology. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family of the Russian pilot. Shortly thereafter, many of the restrictions imposed have been cancelled.

The agreement on visa-free regime was signed on 12 may 2010 during an official visit to Ankara of the President of Russia. It applies to all Russian tourists who come on holiday to Turkey up to 30 days.
