Authorities in Khabarovsk region have supported the petition for the posthumous awarding state awards to Alexey Martynenko, who died in the hospital after saving kids in a fire in the tent camp “Kholdomi”. The Governor Sergey Furgal has informed at the enlarged meeting of the government of the region, reports TASS.
“I think we all imagine in what condition was the child when it was in this tent. If someone, especially a child, makes the feat, he thereby corrects someone’s mistake,” said Furgal. He also promised to contact the competent authorities to celebrate the act of the child.
Previously on the website Change.org there was a petition with an appeal to posthumously assign Alexei Martynenko, the title of Hero of Russia for the fact that he rescued the girls during a fire in the Khabarovsk camp “Kholdomi”. The boy fell into a coma and died without regaining consciousness. Besides him, killed three more children.
On the night of July 23 in the tented camp and tourist complex “Kholdomi” there was a fire that burned 20 of the 26 tents. A criminal case under article “Causing death by negligence” and “Rendering services not meeting requirements of safety of life and health of consumers”. The suspects are the head of the tent camp Maxim Kuznetsov and Director of “Extreme Service” Vitaly boatmen. Investigators suspected the negligence of the local emergency situations Ministry Edward Novgorodtseva.
On 24 July the President of Russia Vladimir Putin called the incident a tragedy and said that he expects the Investigative Committee in the near future report on the results of the investigation.
