Moscow cinema “pioneer” appealed to the constitutional court of Russia with a complaint against censorship of revoking the license from the British Comedy “Death to Stalin”. About this, the lawyers representing the interests of the institution, reported “Interfax” on Friday, July 26.
The reason for the complaint was the fine of 280 thousand rubles. The cinema had discharged him in February on the claims of the Ministry of culture of Russia for the screening of “Death of Stalin”. Screenings in January after a review by the Ministry of culture of certificates of rolling film. After a few sessions in the “pioneer” the police came, and the staff of the Ministry of culture drew up a Protocol on violation.
The Department considered each session of the film, which was shown on 25 and 26 January, a separate violation. Another claim of the Ministry is that “pioneer” is not returned the money for the 16 tickets purchased by spectators for cancelled sessions. Representing the interests of cinema lawyer Yuly tai explained that the tickets were purchased for cash, and people did not come in the “pioneer” to get them back.
Initially, the Ministry of culture has issued a rental license, “Stalin’s Death”, but then the lawyers working in the Department, has asked its Director Vladimir Medinsky not to let the movie in theaters, saying the signs of extremism in the Comedy. Later that same day, the film has revoked the rental license.
