Gazprom intends to prolong for a short time the contract for gas transit with Ukraine, reports Reuters.
According to Agency sources in the Kremlin, reflect on an annual contract. It is necessary to buy time for the completion of the bypass routes of supply.

Source from European Union and two other Russian source familiar with the opinion of “Gazprom” have confirmed Moscow’s position. Gazprom and the energy Ministry declined to comment.

The current contract for gas transit from Russia through Ukrainian territory expires on 31 December 2019. At the end of this year, Russia also plans to launch two of the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” and “Turkish stream”. Both are bypassing Ukrainian territory.
