In the province of Batanes in the Philippines on the morning of 27 July, two earthquakes struck, AFP reports. The victims were eight people, another 60 were injured.
The earthquake of a magnitude of 5.4 and 5.9 occurred within a few hours. The first began at 4:16 local time (23:16 Moscow time), when most of the region’s residents slept.
Local authorities sent to the affected areas of the rescuers and doctors. In addition, the Ministry of defence has activated the plane, which should send humanitarian aid and to evacuate the wounded.
Province Batanes located on the same archipelago in 162 kilometers from the largest island of the Philippines — Luzon. She is the smallest and most Northern of the administrative-territorial unit of the country.
A similar earthquake of magnitude 6.3 occurred in the Philippines in April. Then killed 11 people.
