The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine once again protested against the visit to Crimea the official Russian delegation headed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. This is stated in the statement of the press service of the Ministry.
In the Ukrainian foreign Ministry said that the next trip of the Russian Prime Minister on the Peninsula is in spite of repeated warnings from Kiev. “Cynical is the purpose of “visit” — part in the parade of the occupying Navy of Russia”, — stated in the message. Attempts to interpret such visits as internal travel say about the gross violation of international law, according to the Ministry.
July 28, Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Sevastopol on celebrating of Day of Navy fleet of Russia. In honor of the celebration the town hosts the parade of ships and military-sports festival.
This is not the first time that Ukraine expresses protest against the visit of Russian officials to the Peninsula. So, in 2017, Kiev has sent Russia a note after Medvedev visited Crimea on a working visit. In March 2019, the foreign Ministry expressed protest in connection with the visit to the Republic of President Vladimir Putin on the anniversary of the fifth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea to Russia. Moscow, in turn, returned to Kiev a note of protest. The Russian foreign Ministry noted that no one has the right to tell the Russian leadership, how to build a schedule of visiting regions in their own state.
The Crimea became part of Russia following the results of the March referendum in 2014. Ukraine, EU, USA and other countries do not recognize the voting results and consider Crimea Ukrainian territory. Moscow insists that the voting procedure was held in accordance with international law.
