The head of political Council of party “Oppositional platform For life” Viktor Medvedchuk said that his party will nominate their candidates for the posts of mayors of major Ukrainian cities. He reported about it on air of TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
“I want to tell you that “the Opposition platform For life” will definitely put forward their candidates for the post of mayor of Odessa, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Mariupol and many other cities”, — said Medvedchuk.
In his opinion, the mayors of the cities of the South-Eastern part of the country during the parliamentary elections, distinguished illegal methods of struggle against opposition candidates, should leave their posts. “We will do everything not to allow the continuation of their power in those positions which they, as it turns out, today is a random misunderstanding. Because what they did during the election, indicates that they are not worthy of high office,” — said the politician.
He also said that the party “Opposition platform For life” has not yet decided on the possibility of nominating a candidate for mayor of Kiev.
Extraordinary elections to the Ukrainian Parliament took place on 21 July. The total turnout amounted to 49.84 per cent voters. After processing 100 percent of the ballots, the party of President Vladimir Zelensky “servant of the people” can form a single-party majority, receiving 254 the mandate of the 450. In addition to the party in power, the Parliament also hosts “the Opposition platform For life”, “European solidarity”,”Fatherland” and “the Voice.”
