Since the beginning of 2019, the total number of unfinished construction in Russia has doubled, from 894 to 1,845 thousand. Such data are announced, the General Prosecutor of Russia Yuri Chaika at the meeting of the Collegium of the Prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, July 30, RIA Novosti reported.
According to him, the number of defrauded investors over the same period increased by 6 thousand people, from 38.7 thousand to 44 thousand. Chaika emphasized that the causes of the dramatic increase in “bad” buildings require “deep analysis”. He also noted that Russia continues to identify violations associated with fixing unreasonably high tariffs for utilities.
Earlier in July it became known that the Russians have invested money in troubled buildings, and in some cases will be able to get an apartment in a finished or close to completion of construction of houses instead of objects, where they bought a house. An appropriate mechanism is already developed, its implementation will require changes to the legislation.
In early June, President Vladimir Putin said that the problem defrauded real estate investors must decide in the next couple of years.
