Russia topped the rating of countries, which are cheaper to travel by taxi than to own a personal car. About it writes “Kommersant” with reference to the study of HSBC Bank.
To buy a car is only for those Russians who drive more than 5.4 thousand kilometers per year. Otherwise, taking a taxi in the next ten years will be cheaper. This situation has arisen because of the low prices for taxi services due to high competition, and because of the low average level of incomes of Russians, which complicates the purchase of a personal vehicle.
Analysts took into account the cost of the car in a particular country (was selected Toyota Camry), the cost of fuel and car maintenance, the average price of a taxi and the income level of residents.
It is noted that the price of a taxi ride in Russia on average 75 percent less than in the US. While the annual cost of car ownership is only less than 30 percent.
On the second place of a rating there is India with an index of 2.7 thousand kilometers per year. In the UK, a similar level is estimated at nearly 1.2 thousand kilometers per year in the U.S. — 1,1 thousand, and in Germany is 811 km.
