Moscow does not intend to offer US any guarantees-deployment of weapons after the termination of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty). This was stated by “Interfax”, the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov.

“What are the legal guarantees we can someone to offer as ideas, even if the most obvious in this situation, the step counter moratorium is rejected?” — said the diplomat. According to him, Russia is interested in the agreements “are no more than the opponents, no more than colleagues in NATO, particularly in the United States.”

Earlier, the United States recalled that they intend to officially withdraw from the INF Treaty on Friday, 2 August. The American leader Donald trump has indicated that Moscow and Washington will sign an agreement in the field of arms control. Details it is not resulted.

In the Armed forces of Russia had previously stated that without the INF Treaty, the Russian side will have to focus not on reality, but on the maximum capabilities of the American side, which will lead to distrust and “a new round of missile arms race”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on suspension of the implementation of the INF Treaty on March 4. This was mirrored Russia’s response to similar actions of Washington. His American counterpart, Donald trump announced plans to withdraw from the Treaty in October 2018, on charges of violation of an agreement Moscow.

The INF Treaty, concluded in 1987 between the USSR and the USA, allows parties to be armed with ballistic and cruise land-based missiles with ranges between 500 and 5.5 thousand kilometers. Moscow and Washington have regularly accused each other of violating its terms.
