In Russia, commented on the position of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the ownership of Crimea. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Crimean Parliament Deputy Vladislav Gangara noted that the statement of the Turkish side, we have a policy of double standards. “We were very disappointing this position, because we understand that de-facto Turkey is flirting with the Ukrainian side and speculates about the Crimean Tatar issue,” he said.
According to him, Ankara aspires to be a strategic partner of Russia should accept the fact that Crimea is an integral part of Russia. “I am confident that de facto Erdogan understands that Crimea — is Russia. It remains only to acknowledge this publicly, to move forward in the development of Russian-Turkish relations”, — concluded parlamentari.
On 7 August during the meeting of heads of Ukraine and Turkey, Erdogan said that Turkey does not recognize the inclusion of Crimea in structure of Russia and will continue to protect the rights of the Crimean Tatars. According to him, the Turkish side will always support the independence of Ukraine, and also believes in the imminent end of the conflict in the East of the country.
Crimea became part of Russia after the March 2014 referendum in which the majority of voters the people of the region supported this decision. Ukraine and the West refused to recognize the results of the plebiscite.
