The Ministry of agriculture did not support a ban on the destruction of the sanctions. The Agency fears that its implementation may lead to increase of illegal trafficking and the impact on the health of Russians, reports TASS.
The Deputy head of the Ministry of agriculture Oksana Lute said that banned products were imported into the country often with counterfeit documents, or even without them. According to her, it threatens Russia’s security. The products can be causative agents of food infections and the organisms causing diseases in animals. The Agency therefore advocates the destruction of prohibited products.
The appeal to the government on this subject was sent on the initiative of the deputies of the faction “Fair Russia”. The party leader Sergei Mironov believes that sanctions, if they are high quality, can be transferred to social institutions for the needy.
Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the situation, said: “of Course, it is very important that sanctions products remained the sanctions and did not become a field of activity for abuse.”
In the summer of 2014, Russia imposed a ban on imports from the United States, Australia, Norway, Canada and the European Union of certain food products. It was a response to anti-Russian sanctions imposed over the situation in Ukraine. 2015 fall under the restrictive measures the products are destroyed.
