In July the Russian traffic social network Instagram was a record compared to the previous months of the year. It is reported owned by Grigory Berezkin the RBC, citing data from research firm SimilarWeb.

It is noted that the traffic to the site from Russia amounted to 246,87 million visits from desktop and mobile devices. One visit is considered a user opens one or more pages of the service. If the user spent on the page more than an hour, it is recorded as the second visit.

The company explained that the July result is 24.8 percent higher than in February — the month when Russia was recorded minimum number of visits. However, other platforms do not enjoy such popularity among Russians, and some have shown decline in attendance. So, in June, monthly audience “Classmates” rose 3.4 percent, and the audience of Facebook and Vkontakte declined by 4.2 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively.

In SimilarWeb difficult to answer the question of what caused the surge in attendance Instagram, however, the RBC suggested that it can explain the flash mob, which the Russians gave in the account by American singer Lady Gaga. Under her post of July 16, now over a million comments, most of which are written by Russian users.

In July, the Russians launched a massive discussion on the page of Lady Gaga. This happened after rumors of her affair with actor Bradley Cooper. A few weeks ago he broke up with model Irina Shayk. In the comments the Russians demanded justice for Sheik (and a native of Chelyabinsk), published ads and shared the lifehacks.
