In Russia proposed to ban old cars

The state Duma Committee on industry has proposed to prohibit the use of older vehicles. A proposal was sent to the Ministry of transport and Ministry of industry and trade, reports “Kommersant”.

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on economic policy and industry Alfiya Kogogin proposed to study the issue of “legislative banning the use of motor vehicles, reached the limits of exploitation”. Age limits of vehicles and provide penalties for violation of the letter are not given.

“The withdrawal of old vehicles from circulation should be carried out through the application of measures of economic, technical and organizational regulation, and incentives for motorists to purchase new, environmentally friendly rolling stock”, — explained in the Ministry of industry, confirming the receipt of proposals from the Committee.

At the same time, the Executive Director of the Agency “AUTOSTAT”, Sergei Udalov, said, the restrictions can be set only for commercial vehicles and not for vehicles in private use. According to him, the restriction of term of operation of transport must consider not only his age but also mileage.

According to traffic police, in Russia was 60.6 million vehicles, almost one third of them older than 15 years, one-fifth of older than 10 years. Currently in Russia there are no laws about the timing of operation of vehicles. The only restriction regarding the maximum age of buses for transportation of children, will enter into force in 2020.
