The Russian foreign Ministry offered to simplify the procedure of issuing visas to tourists from other countries. A draft of a normative legal act was posted on the portal regulation.gov.ru.
The document says the changes will allow foreigners instead of invitation from the tour operator to present the booking confirmation at the hotel. In addition, it is proposed to increase the maximum period of stay in Russia with one to six months.
It is noted that the document could come into force by April 2020.
In June the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed the order according to which from 1 January 2021 for all areas of the country will act in the mode of electronic visas for foreigners. Responsible for the performance of the Commission appointed by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev and FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov.
In March Dmitry Medvedev confirmed that Russia is ready to simplify visa regime to attract travelers.
