The administration of the President of the United States, Donald trump intends to cut aid to other countries for more than four billion dollars. It is reported by Politico.
Management and budget the White house is considering to cut 2.3 billion costs the Us Agency for international development (USAID) and the two-billion — Department of state. Of them 787 million dollars was to be sent on international peacekeeping activities under UN, 522 million in funding for the world organization and 364 million on its humanitarian and human rights programs.
The representative of the administration explained that the relevant project was prepared, but the numbers could still change. It is expected that the amendments will be sent to Congress early next week.
Lawmakers will have 45 days to approve or reject the proposal, and the funds all this time will be frozen. In the end, the money would not be used until September 30, when the U.S. will end in 2019 fiscal year. After this period the approval for their use will expire automatically.
Lawmakers have criticized the initiative. According to the Chairman of the Committee on appropriations of the house of representatives Nita Lowey, this idea is incorrect and means “necessary for U.S. global leadership and protecting the safety of Americans.”
Last year the administration also intended to reduce the amount of foreign aid, but in the end the plan was rejected because of the criticism, the newspaper writes.
Politico also notes that the proposal to reduce spending occurred about two weeks after trump signed a two-year budget agreement. It is expected that it will add $ 1.7 trillion to the national debt within a decade.
