Smoking the Russians offered to take a pay cut

Russian employers should introduce restrictive measures in order to fight against Smoking employees. The relevant proposal was made by the Ministry of health in the corporate model program “health running”, published on the website of the Department.

According to the document, employers should evaluate trucapture and material costs associated with Smoking employees, and to develop a tool for reducing tobacco consumption, using financial incentives or penalties. “The calculator will calculate the size reduction of wages depending on the number of Smoking breaks and time spent on them, as well as economic benefits in Smoking cessation officers”, — stated in the text.

In addition, in public areas it is recommended to place the plate of apples and equip areas for exercise — according to authorities, they could be an option “discharge during operation” and, as a consequence, replacing smoke breaks.

It is also proposed to take the following actions: to ban Smoking on company property, to actively disseminate information about the dangers of tobacco, to issue the common areas (toilets, stairs, corridors) smoke detectors to include in the package of voluntary health insurance assistance for Smoking cessation and treatment of tobacco dependence, to co-Finance drug therapy for treatment.

Under the corporate model program, the Ministry of health also proposed to restrict the sale of unhealthy food in the workplace. We are talking about foods that are high in sugar, salt and saturated fat. Russians urged to exclude from the diet in the workplace potato chips, sweet, soda, energy crackers, and crackers, and chocolate bars.

On 18 July it was reported that the Russian authorities wanted to decrease the percentage of smokers by 2035. Expected results implementation of the concept is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use in the adult population to 21 percent, the child population — up to 1 percent.
