In a public event in Moscow attended by about four thousand people. This was reported on the official website of the Moscow Department of the MIA of Russia on Saturday, 17 August.

It is noted that this meeting was coordinated with city authorities. It will be held on Prospekt Akademika Sakharova.

As clarified on August 15, TASS, the event was initiated by the Moscow city branch of the Communist party with a purpose “For fair and clean elections.” The estimated number of participants — up to five thousand.

It was also reported that two other requests for meetings on that date was rejected for failure to comply with the term of notice and violation of several procedures. We are talking about the March from Strastnoy Boulevard to Sakharov Avenue to “March in support of demands to ensure equal access of candidates to participate in elections of deputies of the Moscow city Duma” (30 thousand people) and the pickets on the Boulevard ring.

On 14 August it became known that the Moscow mayor’s office agreed to conduct in the capital, a rally numbering up to 100 thousand people without processions on Sunday, August 25.

In Moscow from the end of July, there are mass protests, including unauthorized, because the Moscow city Duma elections which will take place on September 8. The Moscow city election Commission refused to register several opposition candidates, saying that they are unable to collect the required number of signatures for nomination, or collected them from violations. The opposition claimed that their removal from the election politically motivated. After the unauthorized actions of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the riots.
