American fighter mixed martial (MMA), Daniel Cormier commented on the defeat from compatriot Stipe Miocici on tournament of the ultimate fighting championship (UFC) in Anaheim on the night of August 18. His words are quoted by MMA Junkie.
40-year-old Cormier noted that “paid the price” for not listening to the coaching prompts. “They begged me to go in the fight. Sorry I just didn’t want to do what I practiced in training. I feel like I failed my coaching staff,” he said.
Earlier on 18 August Cormier lost Miocic and failed to defend the title of champion of the organization in heavy weight. American lost by knockout in the fourth round.
The defeat was the second in the career of Cormier, with 22 victories. American takes first place in a rating of fighters of the organization without taking into account weight categories.
Miocic regained the title and won a 19-win streak in MMA. 36-year-old heavyweight was the title holder from 2016 to 2018, having three times to defend the belt, which is a record in division heavyweights. He lost the belt in July of 2018, losing to Cormier.
