Former Ministers of internal Affairs of Estonia sent a letter to the current head of the interior Ministry, the head of the ruling nationalist “Conservative people’s party” Martha Helme with a request to leave his post. It is reported ERR.
The reason was the scandal with the dismissal of the Director of the Department of police and border guard Board Elmar of vahera. The Minister of Finance, son of Martha Helme Martin prepared the documents on the resignation of the head of the Agency, when acting father in his absence. Of wager he refused to leave his post and indicated that his resignation can only reconcile the government, and no talk of resignation from him was not performed.
“Unfortunately, you did not condemn this behavior. On the contrary, you have to justify and defend,” indicate the authors. “Trying to force to resign the head of the police and border guard, using the methods of the German and Soviet investigative bodies of the 1930-ies (in this time period, the Soviet Union headed by Joseph Stalin, in Germany formed the government of the Third Reich under the leadership of Adolf Hitler — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), is unacceptable,” added the former Ministers.
Helme Sr. has responded to the letter and said he was not going to leave the post of head of the interior Ministry, as it does not see anything wrong in having to form his team.
“Conservative people’s party” (EKRE) came to power in Estonia in the spring of 2019. It differs categorically nationalist rhetoric. In particular, it acts against migrants. Other political forces, including supporters of the President Kersti Kaljulaid, referred to as “populists” by “extremist and fringe”.
