Foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas urged Russia to engage in constructive dialogue with Ukraine. It is reported portal Zeit.
“Heiko Maas meets with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov for the fifth time this year. Before leaving Maas urged Russia to take a constructive stance in efforts to establish peace in the East of Ukraine”, — stated in the article.
In addition, it is known that Maas wants to talk with Lavrov in Moscow and other topics. We can address the situation in Syria, Iran’s nuclear program, security in the Persian Gulf, issues of scientific, cultural and economic cooperation.
On 20 August it was reported that the meeting of the leaders of the participating countries “Norman Quartet” may take place before the end of 2019.
The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine began in spring 2014 after trying the new authorities in Kiev to suppress speech in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
