American Jews voting for the Democratic party, are either poorly informed, or showing a “serious lack of loyalty”. This opinion was expressed by the President of the United States Donald trump, according to Axios.
This statement was made during a conversation with reporters in the oval office at the residence of the U.S. President. Trump commented on the fact that Israel banned the entry of Rashid Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, the Muslim deputies of the house of representatives.
“I can’t believe we’re even discussing this. It’s difficult to imagine a few years ago — to cut aid to Israel because of the two people who hate Israel and hate Jews. What came to the Democratic party? How can they put these two above Israel? I think all the Jews voting for Democrats, or completely not aware of, or show serious disloyalty”.
As reported by CNN, this remark angered many members of the Jewish community of the United States. They felt that, when speaking about loyalty, the President has in mind is not Jewish and the American state — and therefore supports the well-known anti-Semitic stereotype about the “dual loyalty” of Jews.
According to the publication, for the Democratic party voted, approximately 79 percent of the Jewish population of the United States. This figure increased significantly after winning trump in the presidential election in 2016.
Ilhan Omar, whose family fled to the United States from Somalia, had previously been convicted of “anti-Semitic” statements directed against Israel, but apologized for them. She also accused the President of the support of white Nazis and called for his impeachment after he suggested her to “go home”.
