The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky expressed hope for the continuation of the Minsk process in the Donbass to stop fighting in the region, reports TASS.

“We will get closer to the time of the return of all our prisoners and to continue in the Minsk process, the disengagement [in the Donbas] in two stages (…), and then breeding throughout the area, and then a cease-fire throughout the territory and end the war,” said Zelensky, meeting in the Kiev airport who flew from Moscow the Ukrainian prisoners.

Earlier on September 7, the Ukrainian President reported on a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The topic of conversation between the two leaders began the exchange of prisoners. Zelensky said that he and Putin “did everything that was promised, not changing in the course of the agreement.”

The exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, according to the “35 for 35” was held earlier on Saturday. Plane special flight detachment “Russia” with the Russians on Board has landed in Moscow. Around the same time at the Boryspil airport landed the plane with Ukrainian citizens.

In late August the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim pristayko said about the proposed Zelensky steps to establish contacts with people beyond the contact line in the Donbass. For the implementation of this plan, according to the head of the foreign Ministry, Kiev has six months.

The Minsk agreement in February 2015 has been agreed by the leaders of “Norman Quartet” — the diplomatic group composed of representatives of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine on settling the situation in Donbas. During the recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel macron insisted on holding the next meeting in the Normandy format.
