The self-proclaimed head of the Donetsk national Republic (DND) Denis Putilin said about the possible restoration of direct railway communication with Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The establishment of direct railway communication with Russia is planned. Direct — meaning even a direct message planned. It is planned, in particular, with Moscow, St. Petersburg. This system worked out in the near future will be able to benefit from it,” he said.
Donetsk train station is completely stopped its work in August 2014 in connection with the fighting on the DPR territory. To Russia from Donetsk, you can take a bus, and rail service is only within the DNR and the neighboring self-proclaimed Luhansk national Republic (LNR).
On plans for the restoration of direct railway communication with Russia reported in 2017, the former head of DNR Alexander Zakharchenko, who died in August 2018.
The armed conflict in the Donbass has lasted almost five years. In April 2014, the Ukrainian government began a military operation against DND and LNR, which declared independence from Kiev after what happened in the country coup. In the spring of 2018, the format operation has been changed, the control over its implementation have received the Armed forces of Ukraine.
