Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the presidential party “servant of the people” and the head of the Committee for external Affairs, Bohdan Yaremenko called for the imposition of punishment for politicians who independently negotiate abroad on behalf of Kiev. He declared it in interview to TV channel “1+1”.

According to Yaremenko, during such visits Ukrainian politicians are trying to attract supporters within the country. “We have, unfortunately, war was the occasion for PR. And PR [policy] is a very harmful way. Because a trip to Russia politicians during the war with the Declaration of principles, which differ from state policy, not bring the world, and postpone it,” he said, referring to the visits to Russia of the head of the political Council of the party “Opposition platform For life” Viktor Medvedchuk.

Such actions, the MP has called a betrayal of Ukraine, which should be a criminal offense, the recent lifting of parliamentary immunity will facilitate this process. “To represent the interests of the country not as they are, and thus try to receive from the enemy country some benefits is treason. This should be punished,” — said Yaremenko.

The politician promised to make appropriate proposals to the Parliament as soon as time.

In early September the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that he intends to check the sources of financing “the Opposition platform For life”, headed by Medvedchuk. The President also noted that the authorities doubt that Medvedchuk is the true head of the political power, hinting at its relationship with the Kremlin.

In Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk is considered to be Pro-Russian politician, because it supports communication with the Russian leadership. In particular, in early September, Medvedchuk took part in the Eastern economic forum in Vladivostok, and before the presidential election in Ukraine, visited Moscow, where he met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and head of Gazprom Alexei Miller. For a politician regularly criticized by its opponents in Ukraine.
