The export of Russian coal to Ukraine, which is currently carried out only with special permission in July increased three times compared to the previous month and amounted to 394,8 thousand tons. This happened against the background of rising shipments of major exporters, according to the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing data from the Central dispatching Department of fuel energy complex (CDU TEK).
However, the publication stresses that shipment in July was 50 percent lower than last year. In the period from January to July the Russian coal miners, did not deliver to Ukraine about 1 million tons of coal. According to analysts, the decline in the supply of Russian coal affects the Ukrainian metallurgy: the country decreased production of coke and as a consequence — the melting of steel and cast iron.
“If in may it was produced 917 thousand tons, in June — 769 thousand tons, in July — 798 thousand tons. Accordingly, the fell iron and steel, 1.8 million tons in may to 1.6 million tons in June and 1.7 million tonnes in July,” said a senior analyst with Dragon Capital Denis Sakwa.
A total of six months, the shipments were down 11.1 percent, or 556 thousand tons, to 4.9 — million tons. In June delivery fell by 85 percent to is 129.3 thousand tons.
From 1 July deliveries to Ukraine carried out by the permission of the Ministry of economic development. This applies to coal, briquettes, and ovoids and similar solid fuels from coal, coke or semi-coke of coal, the lignite or peat, and other products of the coal industry.
