Aircraft of the aerospace forces attacked the positions of jihadists in Syria for the first time after a two-week ceasefire. This is with reference to a military source in place according to Al-Masdar News.
According to the newspaper, Russian aircraft attacked militants in the region of Jabal al-akrad in the North-East province of Latakia. Basically the capabilities of the Russian VKS experienced representatives of the “Islamic party of Turkestan” (banned in Russia), who settled near the strategically important town of Kabani.
It is reported that two weeks ago the jihadists were asked to retreat from these places — but they not only refused, but attacked the Syrian army is using artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In August it was reported that with the support of Russian aircraft and helicopters government forces managed to get close to the key for the jihadists to the city of Kabani. Taking it, they will get an advantageous position to defeat the left in Latakia of enemy forces.
The civil war in Syria began in spring 2011.
