The President of the United States Donald trump believes the dead talks with the Afghan Taliban (banned in Russia as a terrorist). It is reported by The New York Times.
“As I understand it, they’re dead,” said the head of state. According to him, despite that, Washington plans to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan, and the government “must take responsibility” for the security of their country “very soon”.
“Our soldiers are incredible, but they mostly work by the police, — said trump. We’d like to go, but do it at the right time”.
The newspaper points out that it is unclear whether the angry statements of the American leader to mean the final termination of negotiations with the Taliban.
Earlier the Russian foreign Ministry indicated that the abolition of the negotiations could have a negative impact on the situation, but because of lacalendola emotions “can begin escalating the fighting.”
September 8, trump after the terrorist attack in Kabul announced the cancellation of talks with the leaders of the Taliban and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
The us side in recent months negotiated a cease-fire and the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan. In early September it became known that the draft agreement the US and the Taliban meant the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan within 135 days after the signing of the document.
The Taliban was formed in 1994 in the midst of civil war in Afghanistan. In 1996-2001 the Taliban were in power in the country, and after the overthrow in 2001, began to conduct a guerrilla war with government troops and NATO forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Currently, the Taliban and the government are looking for ways to reach a political compromise.
