The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has told about his expectations from the upcoming meeting of leaders of the countries-participants of the “Normandy four”. The corresponding statement the Ukrainian leader did during a joint press conference with President of Slovakia Zuzana Chutovo, reports the Ukrainian edition of “theБабель”.

Zelensky said that in the first place Kyiv expects to reach agreements on the exchange of “all for all” and a final decision on disengagement in Donbass. “Gold, of Peter and then across the demarcation line”, — he stressed.

Another important issue to be raised at the meeting, according to Zelensky, will be the holding of elections not under the control of Kiev territories of Donbass. Before these elections, he believes, should be a withdrawal of all troops. “These are the most important moments. Don’t know if we solve it in one meeting, but I really do want it,” he said.

In addition, Zelensky expressed dissatisfaction with the rare meetings “channel four”. Noting that the last time such a meeting took place in October 2016, he emphasized the unacceptability of such a situation. “When we have a war in the country, meeting in the “Normandy format” may not be conducted every three or four years. We don’t have time to wait, because every day killing our soldiers,” — said the Ukrainian leader.

Thursday, September 12, it became known that Ukraine insists on the agreement date of the meeting of the leaders of the Quartet in September. According to Zelensky, the negotiations on the terms of the meeting continues. In Russia it was noted that the summit could take place in October.

On 9 September about the need to hold a meeting in the Normandy format in a short time, said the French foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian. At the end of August, plans to discuss the situation in the Donbass, reported German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The “channel format” — the diplomatic group comprising representatives of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine on settling the situation in Donbas. In February 2015, the four leaders agreed in Minsk instrument including the introduction of a ceasefire regime and a legislative recognition of the special status of the region.
