The WhatsApp messenger saves the pictures and videos posted by users on devices of their interlocutors, even if the files were removed from correspondence. It is reported by TheHackerNews.
A vulnerability has been discovered in the functions related to deleting messages. Thanks to the user within hours can erase accidentally sent a message, video or image.
However, the WhatsApp messenger automatically copies all the files in photo gallery gadget — this option is enabled in the default app. Thus all forwarded files even if you delete them from the correspondence will be available to the recipient. The vulnerability relates primarily to the iPhone, since Android devices can be automatically erased from memory deleted in the correspondence files.
Employees of WhatsApp refused to correct this vulnerability. They said that a feature called “Delete all” in the first place aimed to remove the messages and not multimedia files.
Earlier, the former NSA employee USA Edward Snowden said that officials should not use WhatsApp and Telegram. He said that the authorities make the mistake of turning to the services of Facebook, which “layer by layer blurs different levels of protection.”
