The insurance company can raise the cost of insurance policy for motorists who violate traffic rules. If it is the Russians still will have to pay fines for violations. This is reported by “Izvestia”.
In accordance with the draft law of the Ministry of Finance, the insurers will decide whether to consider traffic violations a specific driver when calculating the cost of the policy. The price of insurance can raise for running a red, speeding from more than 60 kilometers per hour, travel into the oncoming lane and driving under the influence.
The insurance company will calculate the value of the individual base rate depending on the violation. The bill is not negotiated discounts for diligent drivers.
Automobile expert Sergey Ivanov believes that the bill contradicts the Constitution, because it provides double punishment for the same offense: the driver will be required to pay the fine and then buy insurance at a higher price. He stated that these changes “would seriously impair the democratic freedoms of the people.”
Representatives of the Russian “Movement of motorists” we are convinced that the insurance company does not seek to reduce accidents but want to make more money. Experts also fear that the tightening of the rules of calculating the value of the policy will lead to the fact that drivers will refuse to buy insurance.
In the Russian Union of motor insurers (RAMI) supported the bill. According to insurers, such measures would be the economic incentive for drivers and reduce traffic violations, and will make the policy cost more just: sloppy motorists will pay more careful — less.
