Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez commented on the upcoming fight against Russian Sergey Kovalev. His words are quoted by BoxingScene.
“It’s a risky fight for me, as Kovalev really is harder, stronger and bigger than me. But my skills and strength will help me in this fight,” said Alvarez. He added that the fight will become one of the most difficult in his career and for Boxing world — historical.
Kovalev and Alvarez agreed to fight on September 13. The fight will take place on 2 November in the United States.
Kovalev is a world champion by the world Boxing organization (WBO) light heavyweight champion. August 24, he defended his title, knocking out the Brit Anthony Yard. The Russian has played 38 matches in the professional ring. On account of his 34 wins (29 of them by knockout). He also suffered three defeats. One fight ended in a draw.
Alvarez owns belts of the world champion under versions of the world Boxing Association (WBA) and world Boxing Council (WBC) Middleweight title. During his career he has won 52 victories (35 by knockout), suffered one defeat, also on account of his two draws.
