Belarus has completed the internal procedures for simplification of visa regime with the EU. It is reported BelTA.
“The head of state, the decision will be published today, the signing of agreements with the EU on simplification of issuing visas. It is a difficult decision. The President of Belarus accepted it, realizing the high importance of mobility for the citizens of our country, and only after careful evaluation of all possible risks and consequences,” — said the press Secretary of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Republic Anatoly Glaz.
The agreement on simplification of visa regime between Belarus and the EU envisages reducing of the cost of the visa fee from 60 to 35 euros, and decision on visa applications within 10 days.
Before the former chief representative of the European Union in Belarus Andrea Victorin said that prior to the introduction of a simplified visa regime between the Republic and the EU was the last step. “We made a compromise proposal. I think this will be the last step and we will remain to complete the procedure. Once we have the green light, the completion will take 2-3 months from the European side. Don’t know how many Belarusian”, — she said in February 2019.
In addition to simplifying the visa regime with the EU, Belarus also relies on mutual recognition of visas with Russia until the end of 2019.
