Verkhovna Rada Deputy from the party “European solidarity” Alexey Goncharenko declared that will participate in the autumn session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), despite the decision of the Verkhovna Rada not to send delegates. About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.

According to Goncharenko, in addition to his participation in the session will be attended by other members, particularly those who were part of the old Ukrainian delegation. He noted that this decision is connected with the awareness of the need to represent Ukrainian interests in the Council of Europe. “I consider it unacceptable that such an important international platform, as the PACE was the Kremlin’s position and did not heard our position,” he said.

Earlier the Deputy from party “servant of the people” Bohdan Yaremenko said that the nearest PACE session will be held without the participation of the Ukrainian delegation.

Oleksiy Honcharenko, who was twice elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the party of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, known for his odious actions. At the beginning of the presidential campaign, he parodied the candidate on a post of President Vladimir Zelensky, dressing up in a costume of Charlie Chaplin. He also was among the deputies who dressed up as Cossacks and began to “write a letter to Putin”.

Many actions Goncharenko was associated with his work in PACE. In 2018, he has performed in rubber gloves, to show that protected from “toxic Russian” and later initiated the signing of the resolution on the allocation of deputies of means of chemical protection in the case of Russia’s return to PACE. He was also among the MPs that instead of answering the questions of journalists the choir sang the Ukrainian national anthem.

June 26, PACE adopted a resolution that restored Russia to the powers of the Assembly in full. The decision sparked protests from the delegations of Ukraine, Georgia, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Goncharenko was one of the initiators of the demarche of the Ukrainian deputies.
